Project Approach

Aesir, Inc. follows the BMC best practice approach.  Described below is an overview of the methodology used:

• Plan and Prepare:
  • A Project Plan is created which provides an overview of the activities and timelines.
  • Team assignments are determined.
• Analyze:
  • Architecture Review:  Create Architecture Review document which includes the appropriate scoping of hardware and software.  Any specifics related to firewalls, servers etc. is also documented here.
  • Requirements and Gap Analysis:  Create Requirements and Gap Analysis document which sets forth specific requirements for any integrations, customizations and configurations.  This applies to changes for out-of-the-box applications as well as custom applications.
• Design:
  • Design Document:  Produce Design document which provides a road map and technical approach on the specifics of the implementation.  The Design document addresses the requirements and gaps.
  • Functional Test Cases:  Functional test cases are developed.
• Build:
  • Installation, Configuration and Implementation:  Within the installation, configuration and implementation phase, some example activities include the following:
    • Installation and configuration of the AR System.
    • Installation and configuration of the full ITSM suite, including Incident Management, Problem Management, Change Management, Asset Management and Service Level Management.
    • Custom application design and development.
    • Customization of the ITSM application.  This is only done when the configuration and the business requirements do not meet the out-of-box design.
    • People synchronization from Active Directory on a daily basis.  
    • Configuration of AIE/EIE to pull data from multiple sources and load into the CMDB.
    • Integrate with Configuration Discovery and Topology Discovery.
    • Configuration of the reconciliation engine to identify the loaded configuration items and merge them to the final dataset.
    • Extending the CMDB at the class and attribute level.  In addition, synchronization of the Asset views is done to reflect the CMDB extensions.
